The Story
Brick by Brick is a celebration of a long friendship between Portrait Coffee and Chrome Yellow. It is also a reflection upon this city and its neighborhoods we call home. As you drink this coffee we invite you to reflect upon our respective brick and mortar storefronts in the West End and Old Fourth Ward, considering the unique challenges individuals and businesses face in a landscape where developers seem to be throwing up new buildings left and right.

Chrome Yellow and Portrait remain proud of the standalone buildings in which we have the privilege to connect with guests each and every day, and we encourage everyone to consider how we might continue to build our communities in a real way: brick by brick. 

The Coffee
This honey processed coffee from Peru comes to us from producer Edy Robles Sosa in the province of Cusco. He is one of Red Fox Coffee Merchants' most valued partners in all of Peru and serves excellent coffee year over year. This particular offering stands out to us because of its incredible balance of sweetness, fruited acidity, and rich mouthfeel. In the cup, we are reminded of sugary strawberry candies, bright rhubarb, and sweet vanilla with a pleasantly buttery mouthfeel. Its versatility allows it to excel on all brew methods.

The Blend
While this is a single-origin coffee from a single producer, we are calling it a 50/50 blend because of its dual roast profile between Chrome Yellow and Portrait Coffee. Half of this coffee is lightly roasted to a degree approximating a Nordic style of roasting by Chrome Yellow; the other half is roasted by Portrait in a style closer to a full city roast. Blended together, this coffee has an interesting and exciting development with rich sweetness and bright acidity.
